FAQ

1. Are you making the right decision?

You are the best judge of your pet’s well-being. If you believe their quality of life has declined or that they are suffering, choosing to end their life humanely and with dignity can be a compassionate decision. If you are uncertain about your choice, we recommend consulting our Quality of Life scale for further guidance.

2. Does it cause pain?

The process of humane euthanasia is designed to be as painless as possible. The initial injection of sedation is administered via a small needle, which may cause minimal discomfort. The subsequent process is completely painless, allowing your pet to pass peacefully.

3. How long does the procedure take?

The sedation process typically takes 5-10 minutes, depending on the patient and the type of sedation used. Once your pet is asleep, the final injection is administered. This medication acts rapidly, allowing your pet to pass peacefully within minutes.

4. What should I expect during the procedure?

Your pet will become drowsy quickly. Following the final injection, you may observe rapid breathing or muscle twitching. It is also possible that your pet will take a deep breath after passing. Many pets do not close their eyes.

5. Can the procedure be performed at a local park, or must it be done at home?

We are happy to accommodate your preferences. We can perform the procedure at the location where you and your pet feel most comfortable, whether that is at home or another location.

6. What happens to my pet’s remains?

Some pet owners choose to bury their pets on their property. Please check your local state regulations to ensure the legality of this. If you prefer cremation, we can arrange for your pet’s remains to be handled by our partners at Final Gift, who will ensure that your wishes are carried out.

Ensure a peaceful farewell for your pet at home.
